Back in the spring of 1994, Ken and Michael were individual agents at The Principal Financial Group. Ken had been in the financial services industry for about three years, and Michael had been in for less than a year. They were both working through the challenges of being new to financial services when they had the idea to combine their forces. The two began making cold calls together, going out on joint appointments, and realized they were much stronger as a team. Soon after that, they formalized a business partnership and the rest is history.

I've learned that some of the best solutions start with listening.
Helping employers see opportunities they may not have considered has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. Whether increasing employee engagement, coordinating executive benefit strategies, or addressing a challenge before it becomes a problem, the best solutions often come from understanding the full picture.
Too often, retirement plans are treated as a benefit employees should simply understand and appreciate. Experience has taught me that participation and engagement don't happen automatically. They require education, communication, and a commitment to ongoing support. Helping employers and employees connect those pieces continue to be one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
My goal has always been simple: to help clients feel confident that their company and employees are with the right people.
Away from the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife Renee, our growing family, and Bruno, our terrier mystery mix. When I can, you'll usually find me outdoors - backpacking, fishing, golfing, or skiing.
Michael Tokushige
Managing Partner

"Everyone takes a different path on the road to retirement; each employee has their own story; let's help them write a good one!"
Since 1993, Michael has dedicated his career to helping people make the most of their retirement plans. For Michael, a great retirement plan is one where participants understand their benefits and use them to create the retirement they dreamed of.
After more than three decades of serving clients, Michael plan to continue doing what he loves while following his own advice: "Travel now while you still can." His commitment to his clients, his passion for helping others, and his genuine care for their future have been the foundation of his career.
